What truly inspires and motivates us is seeing clients grow – spiritually, mentally, and emotionally – and we embark on the journey that leads to healing and recovery.

Dr. Gerry Crete, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT

Clinical Director

Dr. Gerry Crete is the founder and practice director of Transfiguration Counseling and Coaching. He is the author of Litanies of the Heart: Relieving Post-traumatic Stress and Calming Anxiety Through Healing Our Parts which is published through Sophia Institute Press. You can order his book here.

Dr. Crete is a therapist specializing in therapy for individuals, couples, and families; he is IFS-informed, and extensively trained in Ego State Therapy and Clinical Hypnosis. He is also an EMDR certified therapist and EMDRIA approved Consultant who specializes in the treatment of trauma and anxiety disorders. His doctoral dissertation focused on the treatment of male survivors of sexual trauma. He also has extensive experience working with substance and behavioral addictions.

Dr. Crete also specializes in working with seminarians, priests, and religious. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Saint Vincent’s Seminary (Latrobe, PA) teaching for the Institute for Ministry Formation.

Dr. Rich Dell Isola, Ph.D., LMFTA

Marriage & Family Therapist and Couples Coach

Location: North Carolina

Rich received a Ph.D. in Couple and Family Therapy from Kansas State University and is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. One of his main clinical and research interests is marital therapy; he is passionate about premarital preparation and marital work with couples who have encountered disappointment, conflict, divorce ideation, and with couples who just feel “stuck.” Rich also has experience treating adolescents, undergraduate and graduate students, families, and trauma survivors (emotional, physical, and sexual), and has worked extensively with people struggling with depression and anxiety. He utilizes evidence-based approaches such as solution-focused therapy, self-determination theory, and attachment theory. Rich is also passionate about integrating spirituality into treatment when requested by his clients. During sessions, his goal is to establish an environment that is empathetic, collaborative, and goal-focused.

Rich was born and raised on Long Island, New York. Some of his greatest joys include family time with his wife and two children, the Mass, reading (e.g., Scripture, the Saints, C.S. Lewis), and running.

Dr. Pilar Castaneda, LMFT

Dr. Pilar Castaneda is a bilingual marriage and family therapist specializing in therapy for individuals, couples, and families. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and her doctorate from Syracuse University.  She has extensive experience working with trauma and diverse populations. Dr. Castaneda taught family therapy at the Universidad de la Sabana, coordinated the practicum experience for psychology students, provided supervision, and worked in private practice.

John Cathey, MA, is an Associate Professional Counselor with a Masters in Professional Counseling from Truett McConnell University.

He also has a previous Masters in Theological Studies from Holy Spirit College in Atlanta. John’s areas of focus include men’s issues, relationships, communication, identity, marital stress, parenting, religious and spiritual topics, and multicultural contexts. Brian Prater, MS, LPC-A

Licensed Professional Associate Counselor and EMDR Therapist

Location: South Carolina

Brian Prater, MS, is an Associate Professional Counselor with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University School of Counseling.

Brian’s therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and holistic, as the physical, psychological, and spiritual are intrinsically interconnected. His treatment modalities include parts work, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Family Systems Therapy (for couples and families), and Gottman Therapy (for couples and families). At the client’s request, Brian will also integrate spirituality from a Roman Catholic perspective. Most often, he does this using Ignatian spiritual exercises, the systematic theology of St. Thomas Aquinas (Thomism), and the Theology of the Body of Pope St. John Paul II. Brian accompanies his clients at their own pace as they grow in wellness in all areas of their life.

María Rosa Muñoz, M.A., M.S., LAPC

Counselor and Psychotherapist

María believes that every human being has the capacity to heal. She is passionate about helping her clients find hope and accompanying them on their journey to healing.  She provides individual counseling to children, adolescents, families, and adults. Her clients include couples preparing for marriage or the birth of a child and mothers working through the challenges of pregnancy, post-partum, or pregnancy loss. She has also worked with college and graduate school students, consecrated women, and priests. Many of her clients seek help managing a life transition, processing grief, or healing from trauma.  She also treats anxiety and depression.

Her hallmark is fostering a deep therapeutic alliance with her clients through active listening and non-judgment. She sometimes incorporates play, art, and sand tray work with clients open to these. She also has experience with doing parts work.

As a former special education teacher, she has a heart for children and adults with learning differences and ADHD.

María has an M.A. in Psychology from UVa (1987) and earned an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health from Divine Mercy University in 2019. She has been married to Alex for over thirty years and is a mom to five adults and grandma to three young children. She enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and Stott Pilates.

Kevin Sevcik, MS, is an Associate Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University in Sterling, Virginia.

Kevin is a bilingual (English/Spanish) counselor who works with individuals of all ages, couples, and families. He received his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University and is licensed in the state of Georgia. His treatment areas include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, addiction, and other life challenges.

Kaitlin Byrne, LPC

Kaitlin Byrne is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Richmont Graduate University. She has spent her career thus far in residential treatment centers and private practice serving adolescents and their families with a variety of presenting mental and relational health concerns. As well as supporting families entering into recovery from substance misuse.

Kaitlin is certified in Prolonged Exposure therapy for individuals with PTSD diagnosis. She has received additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Psychodrama. She is also a certified Spiritual Director through Divine Mercy University.

She is passionate about meeting clients in the tension of their current experience and being able to journey with them to a new freedom.

Patrick Williams, MS, LAPC Candidate, NCC

Counselor and Psychotherapist

Patrick Williams, MS, is an Associate Professional Counselor candidate with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. Patrick previously worked at Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods in their Transitions Behavioral Health program.

Patrick seeks to collaborate with his clients through a holistic approach. Psychoeducation, personal insight, understanding, identity, and relationships are the foundation for effective therapy. His therapeutic interventions include humanistic and other evidence-based approaches.

College students, adolescents, young adults, seniors, couples, and families are some of the populations he works with. He focuses on the topics of grief and loss, depression, anxiety, vocational discernment, men’s issues, life transitions, unemployment, and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Michelle Dunne, CMCC

Michelle Dunne is a Catholic Strengths and Mindset Coach dedicated to helping Catholic women navigate various seasons of life. With expertise in Clifton Strengths, Catholic parts work, attachment theory, and Metanoia mindset renewal, Michelle helps women deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationships through God’s unique design. 

Michelle and her husband of 34 years have  six children, three grandchildren, and a strong connection with their large extended family in the local NoVA area. Her coaching journey began informally during her leadership development as a dōTERRA business owner, revealing her true passion for guiding women towards intentional living and a holier, happier life. As a Catholic coach, she puts her love of connection and continuous learning to use in fostering resilience and a deep love for God in her clients. 

The brave, persistent but reluctant Saint Hildegard of Bingen is one of her spiritual confidants.

As the Business Manager and Intake Coordinator for Transfiguration Counseling and Coaching, Juliette handles client communication, intake coordination and business process management.

Juliette hails from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and graduated from CDI College as a Certified Dental Assistant Level II and then her passion for healthcare and business management led her to managing several healthcare offices in the Ottawa area.
